 Dosti's Role
|
Dosti supports representatives from the voluntary, community and faith sector to become more influential and to work with other representatives to influence change. In particular Dosti provides training and support to representatives and potential representatives to boards and groups in the Dudley Community Partnership.
Dosti staff work with colleagues in the council, police and health service to provide joint and co-ordinated training and support opportunities for representatives.
What is a representative?
A representative is a person or group of people who act, speak or are present on behalf of
another person or group of people.
Effective representation involves the representees (those being represented) having strong
control or direction over:
 1. Selection: How they choose a representative.
2. Scope: What the context of the representation is, the capacity in which the representative will be working
 and how far they can act on their own initiative.
3. Feed-in: How the representative has acquired a knowledge of the issues affecting those they represent
and how well they understand representees' points of view.
4. Feed-back: How the representative will inform representees about what has been happening.
How the representative is held accountable for what they do.
